2015 debut from post-vaporwaver George Clanton under his government name, following influential vapor scene projects under a slew of guises including but not limited to Esprit 空想, Mirror Kisses and Kid’s Garden. Taking its name from Clanton’s then-burgeoning bedroom label (it’s since turned into a DIY powerhouse), the album filters 80s new romantic and 90s TRL rock through a vaporwave filter with oddly satisfying results. 2018’s Slide pushed the audio JNCO aesthetic even further, but this one’s full of the wide-eyed wonder and confidence that comes from writing full songs after a few years spent pitching down samples. Personally, I love this record. I serendipitously came across “Warmspot” early last year and have listened to it pretty much every day since. Standard edition pressed on splatter multi-colored vinyl, recommended.
