Debut studio album from Los Angeles based indie rock band Local Natives. Gorilla Manor was self funded by the band and recorded by Raymond Richards at his Red Rockets Glare Studio. The band’s jangly, Afro-pop influenced guitars and mellow three part harmonies drew comparisons to Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes, and Vampire Weekend, as well as Grizzly Bear. Their hyperactive percussion and euphoric group chanting helps propel the music forward. There’s an undercurrent of optimism that runs throughout the record. Local Natives appear to have been having a great time when they committed these songs to tape. Released by Frenchkiss Records on black vinyl housed in a full color sleeve.
