One of the earliest physical releases from LA beat freak Mndsgn finally comes back around. Initially released in a hand-dubbed batch of 30 cassettes in 2012, Oblique Kitchn is now on wax for the first time. Whether he’s dishing out post-Dilla jazz lounge beats (“SAMOSA,” “SLUMB”), junglist atmosphere (“43RD”), Brainfeederisms (“FARMRSMARKT,” “LITOBITO”) or his own uncategorizable brand of freakiness (“SAUTEED,” “THXMAN”) – in a market oversaturated (literally!) with lo-fi beats, Mndsgn shit just hit different. 10 tracks in total, black vinyl pressing released on Mndsgn’s own imprint. My heart goes out to the guy who paid $100 for the tape on ‘scogs 💔
