Sixth studio album from Canadian classic rock icon Neil Young. Tonight’s The Night was originally recorded in 1973, but the album’s release was delayed for two years. Recorded in the wake of the drug overdose deaths of Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten and Young’s friend and roadie Bruce Berry, the album is filled with an unshakable emotional intensity. The music is unhinged and aggressive with Young’s lyrics preoccupied by death and disaster. It’s a powerful statement from an artist that could have easily glided along on the smooth sounds of his earlier releases. Twelve tracks in all. Released by Reprise Records on black vinyl with an insert.
