Spectacular album of spoken word and funk form Sarah Webster Fabio. Jujus/Alchemy Of The Blues was originally released in 1976 and featured Sarah Webster Fabio’s spoken word poetry backed by a funk band that included a number of her children. Fabio was a poet, scholar, activist and a leading figure in the world of African-American Studies. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee and eventually found her way to Oakland, California where she taught at Merritt College. This was at the same time that Black Panthers Bobby Seale and Huey Newton were students there. This hard to find record has thankfully been reissued in a perfect replica of the original Folkways jacket and includes a reproduction of the original information booklet.
