Spoon had pretty much cemented their spot in the indie rock canon by 2007. The Austin based band built around the core of founders front man Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno had been releasing music since 1994. By the time they released Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, their sixth studio album, the band had amassed critical acclaim and a formidable following. With albums like 2001’s Girls Can Tell and 2005’s Gimme Fiction, the band established a sound that was streamlined and detailed without any superfluous elements to get in the way. With Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Spoon built on this framework and brought in a wide array of unconventional sounds to create one of their most well received albums. Standout tracks include “Don’t You Evah,” “The Underdog” and “Rhthm & Soul,” but the album is a fantastic listen from end to end.
