Suuns’ third full-length, Hold/Still picks up from where 2013’s Images Du Dufur left off with the Montreal band’s brand of eerie, enigmatic rock. The Krautrock influences also intact, and the experimental, moody textures painting the 11-tracker might render the album the darkest effort from the group. Mechanical drums, noise guitar, and sparse industrial sounds provide the foundation for songs like “Instrument,” “UN-NO,” and “Paralyzer,” that give the album the aforementioned stylistic notes, but also check out “Nobody Can Save Me Now,” “Careful,” and “Infinity” for less aggressive moments. Released by Secretly Canadian on limited-edition dark purple vinyl, includes 11” x 17” foldout poster and digital download.
