The missing link between the Memphis rap kings’ proto-horrorcore *Triple 6* roots and the Hot 97-friendly commercial sound of “Stay Fly,” “Poppin My Collar,” even “Sippin On Some Syrup;” before Juicy J had Trippy Stix™ and Lord Infamous (R.I.P.), Koopsta Knicca (R.I.P.) and Gangsta Boo were still in the fold. Includes the late night Memphis anthems “Tear Da Club Up 97,” “Weed Is Got Me High,” “Hit A Muthafucka,” “Who Got Them 9s” and “Late Nite Tip” (so good, they included it on the previous album too). One of those records we’ve always wanted but never actually seen in the wild, so this first-ever vinyl repress (first since the original 1997 issue) for RSD Black Friday is a pleasant surprise. Shout out to all the earlybird RSD shoppers on that late nite tip… Recommended.
