Amerigo Gazaway’s done it again. Fela Soul and Yasiin Gaye – The Departure were big hit w/ heads, and he continues the Soul Mates Project with Trill Is Gone, a collection of imagined recording sessions between Texas rap legends UGK and blues great BB King. Gazaway deconstructs King’s electric blues hits and crafts hip-hop beats fitting for the the southern rap icons; it’s unbelievable how good Lucille licks sound against Bun B & Pimp C’s “souther-friend” storytelling. Highlights include “Pourin’ Up,” “Make Love To My Car,” “What Means The World To Pimp,” and “Intl’ Blues Players Anthem.”
