This record has everyone you’d want holding down a roots dub session: Augustus Pablo on keys & melodica, Aston “Family Man” Barrett on bass, Carlton Barrett on drums, Chinna Smith on guitar. Keith Hudson & Family Man handle mixing duties and dub out the set with restrained finesse; no heavy handed flange on the drums or unnecessarily long space echo flourishes, just crystal clear riddims and deep deep bass with a tasteful touch of reverb and delay. The title track opens the set with one of the heaviest basslines you’ll ever hear in your life. “Satia” and “I’m All Right” (a dub of Horace Andy’s “Don’t Think About Me,” included on LP2) tear down babylon. This limited edition pressing contains a bonus LP of the vocal versions (aka Pick A Vocal). Check out Delroy Wilson’s psychedelic “Addis Ababa,” or Augustus Pablo’s melodica front and center on “Fat Baby” (with Big Youth on chat duty).
