Here Come The Lords is the Newark, New Jersey (Redman was down w/ the trio early on as a… DJ!) trio’s 1993 debut, and of course, it’s the album that features the group’s signature tune, “Chief Rocka.” With production helmed by Marley Marl and K-Def, the record stays consistently funky—expect dusty, sample-driven boom-bap beats and tight, confident lyricism from the golden-era legends. Other than the aforementioned stunner, other songs to check out are: “Funky Child,” “Madd Skillz,” “Lord Jazz Hit Me One Time (Make It Funky),” and “Keep It Underground.”
