Alongside hometown contemporaries The Stooges, the band’s gritty style, which consisted of garage rock, hard rock, blues and psychedelic rock, went on to shape, in one way or another, the looming punk movement, and traces of the band can be found in the sounds of acts like Bad Brains, Black Flag, the Damned, Circle Jerks, Husker Du, The Melvins, The Dead Kennedys, The New York Dolls, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, the White Stripes, and much more.
