Experimental album from jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. On The Corner was originally recorded in 1972 and was one of Davis’ first attempts to reconnect with the young black audience that had moved on to funk and rock. Davis recorded long jams over bass and drum grooves, and then edited them down for the album. The critics were uneasy with his move away from traditional jazz and the album did not sell well initially. However, this adventurous and highly experimental effort has aged well, and is now considered to have helped push the boundaries of jazz. Eight tracks in all. Released by Columbia on 180 gram vinyl.
