Disco, hip-hop, and house… Vancouver-based producer Nick Wisdom picks all the right flavors for his first solo outing for Bastard Jazz. Perhaps best known for his Potatohead People project and his involvement with Illa J’s self-titled LP (he was the co-producer), Wisdom delivers killer four-on-the-floor grooves on “Intimate Strangers,” starting the EP off with “Good Times,” a Rhodes-driven jammer completely with a killer bassline and vocal hits from the producer himself. Reva Devito’s sultry vocals on “Feelin’ Alright” perfectly complements the more laid vibe of the cosmic disco beat, and “Rock The Cash Bar” is a funky instrumental head-nodder that closes out the record.
