Sophomore studio album from San Francisco’s RBL Posse. Ruthless By Law was originally released in 1994 and features a darker sound than their debut, A Lesson To Be Learned. Black C and Mr. Cee’s production relies less on samples, with drum machines and synths lending the album a G-Funk feel. However, for all of the West Coast gangster rap that came out after The Chronic, RBL Posse still maintain an individual vibe. Their Bay Area twang helps to set them apart as well as the dark content of much of their lyrics. “Blue Bird” may be the most recognized cut from this album, but don’t shy away from tracks like “Bounce To This,” “I Got My Nine,” and “Smoke A Blunt.” Fifteen tracks in all. Released by Right Way Productions on double vinyl housed in a replica sleeve.
