Travis Levrier and Chris Letchford formed Scale The Summit in 2004, and The Migration is the group’s 4th album, originally released in 2013. This is the first project to feature Mark Michell on bass, and Pat Skeffington handles the rhythm section. Instrumental music could be a tough sell, but with Scale The Summit, listeners hardly even notice the absence of a vocalist. Levrier and Letchford trade off lead guitar duties and get extremely expressive, and the band as a whole is able to create a very technical, progressive metal journey. An uplifting, fun, and a relaxing listen even, check out “Atlas Novus,” “Odyssey,” and “The Olive Tree.”
