The music of Sebastien Tellier has always had its quirks. The French singer-songwriter has existed in his own parallel universe of pop since his debut. It can be a divisive place if you’re not careful. However, since the release of L’incroyable Verite, he seems to have won more and more listeners’ hearts. It’s only fitting that Record Makers has seen fit to reissue Tellier’s debut album nearly a decade and a half since its release. In that time he’s gone from the goofball Frenchman, armed with enough shmaltz to entertain a 60s Catskills crowd, to the mysterious man behind the sunglasses helping us get in touch with our Sexuality. His latest has even taken us to his idea of what his youth may have been like had he grown up in Brazil. For a man with this much creativity up his sleeve it’s worth going back to where it all started to have a taste of his L’incroyable Verite. 180 gram pressing, includes free download.
