Originally released in in 1980, Kaleidoscope is the third album from Siouxsie and the Banshees. The iconic British band had lost members John McKay and Kenny Morris before recording the 11-tracker, and Budgie (drummer) and John McGeoch (guitars) came in as replacements. With the new lineup, a new sound emerged, the biggest shake-up being the group’s incorporation of synthesizers and drum machines. With that said, the title aptly summarizes the record, as it features a variety of sounds, imagery, and concepts playing with each other in a powerful, mesmerizing, and sinister way. Check out “Happy House,” Christine,” “Red Light,” and “Desert Kisses.”
