Terekke comes through with a multi-faceted jewel of an album that keeps his signature aesthetic intact, even if a thousand lo-fi house producers started biting it part and parcel since we last heard from him. Matt Gardner tactfully deploys his life-affirming brand of low-pass house rhythms and ethereal pads in newly percussive and polyrhythmic configurations on “BB2” and “JQM,” folding in chunky, sub-aquatic soundscapes (“Swim,” “Padi,” “Closer”) and cavernous analog dub cadences (“Mix 91”) to round out an 11th hour contender for album of the year. Subtle traces of Mark Ernestus and Moritz Von Oswald‘s various projects suggest time spent overseas, as do the submerged breakbeat stylings of “Need U.” 8 tracks in full color pic sleeve with code for digital download; short, sweet and just what we needed to get through the cold winter ahead.
