Thee Oh Sees have somehow mastered the art of remaining prolific and diverse while maintaining their characteristic high quality. Led by John Dwyer, a near unstoppable force in the scene, the band has released an endless stream of albums filled with psych pop, krautrock, and lo-fi scuzz since their debut in 2006. Their live show is something to experience in and of itself, and they are able to channel much of their energy into their recordings as well. Mutilator Defeated At Last is their first record since Dwyer relocated from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The change of locale is tangible from the start. Things are a little more dark and sinister than their last outing, but the music might be even better. Checkout “Web,” “Lupine Ossuary,” and “Sticky Hulks” for a taste of what Thee Oh Sees have to offer.
